Monthly Column in Professional Photographer Magazine

When Adam Scorey, the Editor of Professional Photographer magazine, contacted me to see if I would like to write a monthly column for him I was a bit shocked but delighted to contribute.

He is sensitive to the lack of female voices in the industry - despite the fact that there are many, many female photographers.

I really want the column to be relevant and inspiring so please feel free to get in touch with me and let me know what kind of issues you would like me to explore on your behalf: pp@katehopewellsmith.com

The first column is out now in the February issue.

The Montgomery Street Backpack & NYC

When you become camera mad, hand luggage on flights becomes tricky because you need to carry on a body and preferably spare lenses.  As well as laptop, phone etc etc.  I'm talking leisure travel here and not work.

I've recently been told about the Acme Made range of bags created specifically with DSLR users in mind.  So I thought I'd give it a go on a recent trip to New York.  It was a long weekend to see one of my dearest friends, we planned a shoot whilst I was there plus I knew I had to work for most of the 8 hour flight.

So I had to pack my hand luggage with care.  I was amazed at what I was able to fit in the bag and the beauty of the design is knowing that the whole thing is padded to protect your camera, lenses and laptop.  The fact that the bag looks great - for men or women - is just an added bonus.

Here's what I carried on in a bag that sat happily under the seat in front after take off:

A very practical and stylish addition for anyone interested in travel and photography! x
