Jody & Sarah's Southrop Manor Wedding

It's been ages since I have found the time to write a blog - I am still in the thick of wedding season and just about keeping on top of all of the wonderful shoots from the summer.

When I finish editing a wedding I put on some significant tracks like Snow Patrol's 'Chasing Cars' or Elbow's 'One Day Like This' and I sit and watch the full wedding.  I just wanted to share some of Jody and Sarah's pictures immediately because it really was an amazing day - in every sense.

It was my first time shooting a wedding at Southrop Manor in the Cotswolds and it really is a beautiful venue - a tithe barn set between an old Manor house and a Saxon church.   There is a gorgeous boutique sized hotel - Thyme House and 5 cottages so all of the wedding party can stay for preparations and a stumble to bed once the day is done.   Everything being in one place is wonderful for me because it means more time shooting and less driving from A to B.

So - the things I most remember:  Sarah's smile which was full and warm the entire day.  She really was radiant and I loved the fact that she took her hair down for the evening party.  How smart the boys looked in their suits.  The banter between Jody and his best men Oli and Adam but also how obviously solid the friendships are.  How happy the ceremony was - a church full of smiles. The beautiful dogs who behaved themselves during the 'formals'. How informal the formals were.  How easy it was to get beautiful shots of Jody and Sarah together because their love is real and tangible.  The emotional roller coaster of the speeches.  Oh and the lovely friend who was shooting the video - so charming and easy to work alongside!  On the subject of videos - the stag video was shown during the speeches and it looked like the most epic journey... I'm yet to ask if the Willy Wonka theme comes from a love of sweets - and Sarah did have a real ring on the day - luckily because the one below didn't last very long.

Finally how happy I was when we caught the last 5 mins of beautiful light.  Huge thanks to Jody and Sarah for being so flexible about the 'couple session' and allowing me to work around the light rather than the schedule.  I hope you like your pictures as much as I do!

Thanks to my lovely friend Nikki Sheffield who assisted me so brilliantly once again.
