Charlie & Claire's Hertfordshire Wedding

Charlie and Claire booked me following an email exchange and then a chat on the phone.  I tend to think that's quite brave but when we did meet I think we all knew that we would have a great time working together.   I was also happy to be able to introduce them to the 'on the day' planning services of Anna at Bride and Glory and the fabulous floristy that Rebecca provides at Gingerlily Flowers.

The wedding was on 31st August and it was a beautiful day - with blue skies of summer but a hint of autumn chill - pretty much perfect as a guest because high temperatures aren't ideal in reality.  From my perspective the glaring sun left me with a difficult decision to make over the group photos - there was absolutely nowhere at the beautiful church that I could take quality imagery and I am SO grateful that Charlie listened to my concerns and we changed our plan.  I really am grateful because Charlie's Dad is the Rev John Russell of St Peter and St Paul's in Little Gaddesdon and he took the service - which was wonderful.  After the ceremony the reception was at Beechwood Park School which was a gorgeous venue and lovely to photograph inside and out.

The things that I remember most from the day:  how calm and serene Claire was all day long - remarkable really and how beautiful she looked - from the dress down to the shoes, the veil to the sash.  And I also loved the bridesmaid dresses.  How warm and intimate the service was but also how relaxed and funny parts of the sermon were too. The dramatic light during the signing of the register and the recessional music!  Charlie's peacock coat lining and the banter between the boys.  Discovering the 'blue' room at the venue and finding the wedding pictures of those that had come before.  How beautiful the top table flowers looked on the mirrors. My frustration with the sun - how it was too present during the day and then kept hiding when I really needed it.  The speeches which were all funny.  The near death of the polaroid camera and those wonderful fireworks after the first dance.

Thank you Charlie and Claire for being such a pleasure to work with and to Lel Hurst who was a star assistant all day and drove all the way from Brighton.
