November 2012 Little Rascals at Aspire

Just a quick post to share some of the images from the last Little Rascals of 2012  at Aspire.  We had such a lovely group on the day and although we started in rain by late afternoon we actually had half an hour of beautiful low sunshine so I was able to show delegates my 3 fave types of lights for portraits.

In the morning we got to photograph the adorable Anaya.  She was incredible - as cute as a button.  And I persuaded Maya her mum to jump in for a few - because actually I know that she will cherish these pictures of them together over time.

The morning was overcast which is pretty much the ideal conditions to photograph a toddler - they will accept only minimal direction and it's very much a case of high energy, spontaneous shooting WHEN the light looks good.

Then after some lunch we got to spend some time with siblings Tiegan and Tye.  These two sit at the other end of the 'Rascals' spectrum - pre teens.  Not easy but with confidence you can be much more creative and I demonstrated to delegates how I seek out different lighting conditions for variety - the images below show the range that I love to shoot - gentle, flattering top shade, creative and dramatic back light and then contrasty and moody side light.

It was a great day, as always on this course.  Rachel and I are making plans for 2013 and confirmed dates include 16th January, 23rd April, 9th July, 8th October and 4th December.
