James and Sarah's Hampshire Wedding at Home

One of the things that I love about my job is how I often meet my clients more than once.  Sarah, the lovely bride below, attended a 21st party that I photographed a couple of years ago.  She loved the images from this party and booked me for a shoot with her brother and sister as a present for their mum.

So when James proposed to her she knew that she would like me to capture her wedding for her too.

There is something very, very special about getting married at home and this wedding was such a pleasure to photograph - full of beautiful details and heaps of positive, happy energy.

Things I particularly loved included her summer bouquet, her intense pink shoes and the rows of wellies that added a touch of humour and context to the marquee decoration.  I also just loved how elements of the garden were incorporated in the marquee - with guests entering down a stone staircase that were flanked by the most beautiful rose bushes.

I had the lovely Becky Male along with me on the day and she headed off to capture James' pre-ceremony lunch before going to the St Andrew's Church in South Warnborough.

At home Sarah was getting ready with her mum and 5 bridesmaids.  I loved the fact that she was getting ready in her mum's room and on the dressing table was a framed image of Sarah as a little girl - it made me think of my daughter and how one day this would be her.

Sarah remained very relaxed and happy all morning.  I absolutely adored her dress which was by Jenny Packham.

The moment before Sarah entered the church and then the first time she saw James waiting.

It was a beautiful, intimate and happy ceremony.

And the longest confetti throw to date!

This was one my favourite moments of the whole day.  Sarah and James knew that this was their wedding transport but were delighted and overwhelmed by the effort that was made.  Love it!
As did all of the guests who gathered around for the send off from the Church.

Just behind Sarah's family home was a beautiful wooded bridal path and this is where I took them for a few photos on their own.  They were both on such a high and it was just lovely to capture their love and joy.

The strong colour theme was fab.

Particularly liked the name cards in wine corks.

Brilliant, emotional speeches.

And nearly the end for James' beloved teddy bear...

This crowd knew how to dance.  The energy was incredible.

During the day I had spotted that this beautiful tree was going to be lit with fairy lights so just before saying goodnight we popped outside for some last photos.

I know that they are still on honeymoon and hope they are having a wonderful time.  Thank you both for letting me capture your fabulous day.  xx

On their return from honeymoon I got lovely emails from both Sarah and James.  This is what Sarah had to say:

"We are SO thrilled with the amazing photographs you took of our wedding day.  It was such an amazing, brilliant day for us and we are so happy that you captured it so vividly and atmospherically - I really feel like I'm back on the day looking at your shots. The photos in the wood are particularly  so special and beautiful and will be treasured for all our lives then passed on to our children.  As you said the photos of the 2 of us was a special moment in the day when we were able to spend some time alone so that was lovely in the first place, and all the more lovely to have it captured so beautifully on film.  I walk down that track  every day when I'm at home and never even thought of it but you couldn't have been more right that it was the perfect backdrop!   I also particularly love all the wedding party walking towards the camera in the field - it makes me smile so much! You had so many imaginative and clever shots which I've loved looking through.  And quite apart from your amazing photos, you were such a pleasure to have around on the day - you made the photos so easy and fun, really quick with the groups, and always there in a subtle way!"
