LIttle Rascals, Aspire Photography, Jan 25th

Sitting here this evening feeling very chilly I can't believe how lucky we were with the warmish day we had last week for Little Rascals.

In the morning we had a fascinating session with the gorgeous Emme. Understandably she found a bank of 11 cameras pretty daunting. She really wanted and needed to be in close proximity to her mum. In fact she only relaxed and became animated when she was talking directly to her. As a photographer it is essential to read this kind of scenario and change any 'plan' you may have had. I think Laine may be surprised by the images we all managed to capture - but that's the secret to good lifestyle photography with such young children. Relax, go with the flow and find the subject's comfort zone. Emme was definitely happiest on the move with her teddy and dog.

The shoot in the afternoon was totally different as the boys, Caleb and Caed, were fine to take direction. I first photographed these two on Bespoke and think that they, and their parents Carl and Michelle, are fab.

We tried out a new location in some woodland near Aspire and then headed into Burton to find some more urban backdrops.

So that's the first session of the year done already. Can't wait to see where Rachel and I end up over the next few months - there will definitely be bluebells and beaches along the way.
