Engagement Shoot at Blenheim Palace with Joe & Melissa

On Friday I met up with Joe and Melissa in the grounds of Blenheim Palace for a shoot to celebrate their engagement. They are both from the States but have decided to have their wedding in Oxford next year because Melissa has been based here for the last 6 years.

I first met Joe and Melissa in the lovely Wine Cafe in Summertown. Melissa had contacted me on the recommendation of Elizabeth whose wedding I loved shooting this summer.

I loved this shoot for a number of reasons. Firstly the couple - Joe and Melissa are fabulous individuals who make a gorgeous couple. They are very much in love and Joe's job means they are apart far more than they are together at the moment - so time together is super precious. They made a real effort to look great for the shoot. I love that. And of course the grounds of Blenheim - with the last of the Autumn colour - and the prettiest light you could ask for in late November.

All of the ingredients I could ever wish for. Thank you Joe and Melissa - can't wait for the big day. xx

Folio Albums - fabulous new cotton covers

I just wanted to let you all know about the new cotton photo covers that Folio Albums have added to their gorgeous range. I've been a big fan of these albums since I first laid eyes on a prototype. They just suit my work and I love the fine art feel, quality and style of them. And equally importantly Stewart and Julie are such a pleasure to work with.

I did a shoot this summer with the very lovely Cecelia. It was a very hot day and we had a lot of fun in her back garden.

I was really pleased that her mum chose to have one of the new photo covers for the album. This style cover would look just as gorgeous for a wedding album.

Pre Wedding Shoot - Kyle and Charlotte

I've got just 2 weddings left to shoot this year. One in London and one at the beautiful Dairy in the grounds of Waddesdon Manor.

At the weekend I met up with Kyle and Charlotte to chat through all of the details and get them used to my camera and how I like to work with couples.

It was a very overcast and grey day but luckily there was plenty of gorgeous autumn colour which won't be around for much longer.

Can't wait for their wedding - a fab couple in a fab venue.

LIttle Rascals, Aspire Photography, Nov 3rd

On Thursday last week I had a lovely group for the last Little Rascals of 2011. We were threatened with showers but the weather managed to hold for us - the rather grey and drab day could have been bad news but Rachel and I had made a plan to inject some colour into the session.

The morning shoot didn't start brilliantly when Archie and Ebony took a tumble out of the wheelbarrow! Understandably they didn't want to go near it for a while so we set off down the lane with balloons in tow. The kids enjoyed this and typically for this age group the shoot was largely on the move with me keeping an eye on the fairly weak available light.

There was a real friendship between the kids and I wanted to capture how great they are with each other at this stage of their family life.

We headed back into the yard to try and get some more considered portraits. By this stage both kids were getting tired and it became quite hard work. All the delegates were relieved to see that this is normal and felt better for witnessing it. When I'm on my own with a family it is a lot less daunting for the kids then a mass of photographers training though!

After lunch we met Megan and Rowan who are 7 and 4 and also little buddies. They were both amazing to photograph and they were such stars. I started the shoot up in the yard - just to have a chance to chat to the kids a bit and take some lovely headshots before we went on a little adventure.

Thanks to their parents renting Fleur the camper van for a weekend away we were able to use her in the shoot. The lovely people from Rainbow Camper Hire were happy to release the lime green Fleur a day early. My family hired Maisie from this company who are based in Keswick and I cannot recommend them enough. We had a ball - even camping in November.

After some fun in Fleur I demonstrated how lovely it is to get some action shots as part of a lifestyle shoot - both kids were great little runners and I just loved Rowan's 4 year old determination. We also had some fun with the autumn leaves.

Last stop was the wood where Rachel had set up a little Christmas wonderland. The light was rapidly fading so we took a few shots before cajoling mum and day into the frame for a last shot with the van (and a very persistent cow).

So - who knows what Rachel and I will cook up for Little Rascals 2012. Watch this space! xxx
