Yummy Mummies - April 11

Last Thursday I was spoilt by beautiful April weather for my training day at Aspire CPT in the lakes. Due to this we shot outdoors all day and found some beautiful spots in the bluebell woods. Early in the day a couple of the delegates were a little surprised that I was going to treat the entire shoot as 'lifestyle - but I think these images demonstrate that you can't beat these backdrops and natural light if it's warm enough to keep the babies happy.

There was some lovely dappled light in the woods and I wanted to show how nice it is to capture the pregnant form small within the frame and also more obviously as the main attraction.

I'm not a fan of maternity pics that use a piece of material draped over the bump - always seems a little bit odd and misplaced to me. So....I'd much rather use a Kaftan or something equally sheer. This would be most effective in low, early evening light but I wanted to demonstrate the concept.

I loved her outfit - casual but glam.

Don't know about you but there is something very special about Daddy and baby girls. Some of my favourite childhood pics are with me and my Dad on the beach.

Great tip for a baby who is sleepy but not quite ready to nap - and the result is gorgeous - particularly outdoors.

I took the portrait back in the studio yard as I didn't have my Macro lens up in the bluebell woods - the Nikon 105 does both portaits and macro beautifully.

Time for a sneaky neck nuzzle.

Now that's a yummy mummy in Miu Miu, baby.

Demonstrating back lighting and the benefit of great props inside and out.

Alfie's eyes are going to break some hearts...

Mum and Dad were VERY happy to have kiss. Alfie got his share too.

I had a great day and can't wait for my next Little Rascals course in a week. x
